Fixing dropouts during a ride

What to check when your trainer, power meter or heart rate monitor disconnects mid-ride.

Bluetooth dropouts are almost always about distance, interference or another app grabbing the device.

  • Keep the computer close to the trainer, with nothing metal in between.
  • Close other apps that can connect to your devices, on the computer and on nearby phones.
  • Move other wireless gear away: Wi-Fi routers, USB 3 hubs and microwave ovens interfere with Bluetooth.
  • Check batteries in the power meter and heart rate monitor. The Devices tab shows battery level when the device reports it.
  • Reconnect from the ride screen: click the device's button at the bottom of the ride screen to connect it again. Your ride keeps going.

If one device drops out often, contact us with its model, your computer and your browser.
