Connecting your smart trainer

How to pair a trainer, power meter or heart rate monitor, and what to do when it doesn't appear.

Open the Devices tab, or connect from the screen that appears before each ride.

  1. Wake the device: pedal for a few seconds, or wet the contacts on a heart rate strap.
  2. Click Connect under Smart trainer, Power meter or Heart rate monitor.
  3. Pick the device in the browser's list and click Pair.

You'll see live watts, cadence or heart rate on the card once it's connected.

If your device doesn't show up

  • Close other apps. A trainer usually accepts only one Bluetooth connection at a time. Quit Zwift, TrainerRoad, the manufacturer's app and anything on a nearby phone or tablet that might be connected to it.
  • Use a supported browser: Chrome or Edge on a computer, or Chrome on Android. See What you need to ride.
  • Check Bluetooth is on on your computer, and that the browser is allowed to use it (on a Mac: System Settings, Privacy & Security, Bluetooth).
  • Move closer. Keep the computer within a few meters of the trainer.
  • Restart the trainer by unplugging it for 10 seconds.
