ERG mode and auto-pause

How the trainer holds your watts, when it lets go, and how pausing works.

ERG mode

In ERG mode the trainer sets the resistance so you ride at the target watts whatever your cadence. It's on by default. You can turn it off during a ride with the ERG button, and nudge the targets up or down in 5% steps if a workout feels too hard or too easy.

During FTP test efforts the trainer doesn't hold watts: you pace the effort yourself, as hard and as even as you can.

Auto-pause

After 3 seconds without pedaling, the ride clock stops and the trainer releases the resistance so you can get back on easily. When you start pedaling again, power builds back to the target over 5 seconds. The Pause button does the same thing.
